The FIG Health & Social Services Department are looking for a Pharmacist to join our existing team in managing and developing the current pharmacy service to support the delivery of high-quality primary, secondary and community health services by ensuring the safe, economic and effective use of medicines. The pharmacy is the only one in the Falkland Islands and is an integral part of the King Edward Memorial Hospital, based in the Island’s capital, Stanley the service follows UK practices and standards of care, modified to meet local needs and circumstances.

The Role

As the sole Pharmacist, working in conjunction with two Pharmacy Technicians and a Pharmacy Assistant, main accountabilities include managing the day to day running of the pharmacy department and when necessary, undertaking core dispensary-based tasks as well as developing and maintaining the hospital drug formulary.

You will also work in collaboration with clinical colleagues and subsequently ensure evidence-based, cost effective prescribing practices are followed by monitoring compliance with the formulary and take the lead role in running the smoking cessation clinic and other primary health clinics, according to the needs of the community and personal skill levels.

The Person

Hold a Master of Pharmacy Degree (or equivalent).
Be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) or equivalent professional registering body.
Have a minimum of 3 year’s post-registration experience working effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
Management and staff training experience.
Be able to understand the benefits and challenges of living and working remotely in a small, close-knit community.
Be flexible and able to adapt to different ways of working.

The Package

Fixed Term Contract, up to 4 years.
Starting Salary £43,141 to £49,590 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience) rising to £52,555.
Eligibility for a 25% Gratuity (taxable), paid upon successful completion of contract.
41 days paid leave, 30 days paid annual leave plus 11 government and public holidays.
Relocation Allowance, to help with moving costs.

Based out of King Edward VII Memorial Hospital in Stanley, the Health and Social Services directorate provides primary, community and secondary healthcare in the Falkland Islands, as well as social services and welfare provision for those most in need.

Working hours in the pharmacy are 08:00-12:30 and 13:30-16:30 Monday to Friday.

The pharmacy team is comprised of a pharmacist, two pharmacy technicians and a pharmacy assistant.

We are the only source of prescription-only [POM] and pharmacy-only [P] medicines for the local community on the islands.

THE OPPORTUNITY

THE ROLE

The Offshore Petroleum Wells Lead is responsible for regulatory oversight of all offshore petroleum activities associated with wells, including integrity, design, drilling operations, and decommissioning. The role involves assessing well designs, drilling programmes, suspension and decommissioning proposals, licence applications, technology plans and emergency response plans, with a strong emphasis on well integrity throughout the lifecycle of each well. The postholder will be the principal regulatory authority for wells, assessing, challenging, and recommending acceptance or refusal of well consents, drilling programmes, and decommissioning plans.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:

Have significant experience (10+ years) of industry experience in planning, delivery, operations and decommissioning of offshore oil and gas wells.
Have a proven track record of analysing offshore wells plans and delivery, risks and performance, developing clear recommendations with supporting evidence.
Have an excellent understanding of current well integrity and well abandonment best practice and well control processes
Have demonstrable expertise in the complex technical and operation challenges associated with well design, integrity, and abandonment techniques
Be proficient in risk assessment and mitigation strategies for well decommissioning, along with the key stages of planning and executing this work
Have a degree in well engineering or other parallel technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience
Hold a valid IWCF level 4 accreditation and BOSIET (CA-EBS) and MIST certificates
Hold an OEUK approved offshore workers medical examination
Possess a valid driving licence.

The Role

The Falkland Islands Government is seeking to recruit an Advanced Practitioner who will be experienced in all areas Adult Services. You will work with vulnerable adults within the community but you must be prepared to work flexibly as our role is generic, spanning the whole spectrum of tasks and client groups due to the small size of the community. Developing policy for Adult and Children’s social care will be a key element of this role.

The Person

You will be a qualified social worker with five years post qualifying experience within Adult’s Services and will have a flexible and adaptable approach and a commitment to quality. You should also be registered with a relevant registration body. You will hold a post qualifying award, Best Interest Assessor and being qualified in Achieving Best Evidence would be an advantage. Experience of Signs of Safety would be beneficial.

The Role

You will take a lead role in developing and delivering the social work service to vulnerable adults and their families. Your work will include leading adult safeguarding investigations, undertaking assessments and reviews, policy development and community services development.

The Package

Fixed Term Contract up to 4 years.

THE OPPORTUNITY

THE ROLE

The Offshore Petroleum Sustainability and Socio-Economic Officer will be responsible for managing all data collection, analysis and development of data management systems associated with both the environmental and the socio-economic sustainability of the offshore petroleum industry. This will include the analysis and fulfilment of national and international reporting and data sharing obligations. Additional to this, the post holder will be responsible for providing the secretariat function for the Falkland Islands Environmental Impact Offsetting Trust.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:

Have significant experience (7+ years) in sustainability, environmental and/or socio-economic research and data analysis.
Prior experience of operating within a public sector or research organisation (government or non-government) and understanding complex datasets and successfully delivering research projects to deadlines.
High level of research and analytical skills including the ability to effectively sift and analyse large amounts of complex information and use it to make robust recommendations.
Demonstrable and significant experience in qualitative or quantitative research and evidence of highly developed analytical skills.
Demonstrable experience of an ability to think creatively about issues associated with environmental and socio-economic sustainability and deliver effective policy innovation.
Effective communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to deliver effective presentations, write meaningful reports and engage pro-actively and constructively with diverse audiences, and to communicate confidently with all levels of stakeholders.

Assistant Harbour Master

Do you hold an Officer of the Watch (Deck) STCW REG II/1 (Unlimited) Certificate of Competency or a Vessel Traffic Service operators’ certificate with 5 years’ relevant experience? Do you like the idea of working in one of the most beautiful places in the world with amazing landscapes, friendly communities and incredible wildlife? If you have answered yes to these questions, then you could be the new Assistant Harbour Master the Falkland Islands Maritime Authority (FIMA) are looking for.

The Role

With direction from the Deputy Harbour Master, this role includes oversight of harbour and port operations, including vessel traffic monitoring, promulgation of maritime safety information and control of vessel movements within the main harbours of the Falkland Islands, port and harbour patrols, and assisting in carrying out ship sanitation inspections.

In addition to harbour control duties, the successful candidate will be part of a small team who are responsible for all aspects of maritime safety for Falkland Islands waters. The Falklands is a Category 2 Red Ensign Group registry with responsibility for ensuring compliance with all flag, port and coastal state obligations. This extensive remit requires all members of the team to work together and be flexible and adaptable to varying work demands.

With no dedicated coastguard service, FIMA are responsible for the co-ordination of the emergency response to any maritime accidents and incidents, including pollution incidents and the control of maritime accidents and incidents within Falkland Islands waters. As part of the Falkland Islands Emergency services, we operate on the (Joint Emergency Services Interoperability program (JESIP).

The Person:

Holds an Officer of the Watch (Deck) STCW REG II/1 (Unlimited) Certificate of Competency or Vessel Traffic Services Operatives qualification, with 5 years’ experience.
A current valid driver’s licence.
Understands the principles of safe management of vessel operations, marine meteorology, emergency response, port control operations, pilotage and relevant health and safety and security legislation such as the PMSC and ISPS Codes.
Able to integrate and work with team members across Government directorates.

N.B. Applicants without the qualifications listed above may be considered if they satisfy other requirements to a high level or have had previous experience within port operations or other relevant experience appropriate to the post.

Due to the potential of involvement in Falkland Islands security matters, applicants must be a British Citizens (ie hold British Citizenship or British Overseas Territory Citizenship) and be able to obtain appropriate security clearances for the role.

The Package

Fixed Term Contract up to 4 years.
Starting Salary £36,274 to £41,668 (depending on qualifications and experience) rising to £44,564
