Offshore Health and Safety Policy Advisor - Mineral Resources

Salary: £43,141 to £49,590 per annum (plus 30% market supplement) depending on qualifications and experience.

The post is for a fixed term of up to four years in the first instance with the possibility of extension. Secondment and Interchange opportunities will be considered.

The Role: To provide support, guidance and expert regulatory advice, to the Director, and the Project Director with regards to all aspects of Health & Safety requirements.  The role includes working closely with colleagues to deliver appropriate drafting instructions, ready for the legal team to complete offshore safety proposals which may include research to identify best practices in other jurisdictions and analysing policy alternatives to recommend fit-for-Falklands solutions that are aligned with developing best practice in the oil and gas industry worldwide. Assist with the development and maintenance of guidance documents and related materials to support and strengthen the policy to legislation process.

The successful candidate will have: A Master’s or post-graduate diploma (or equivalent) in any discipline containing significant content relevant to the offshore hydrocarbons industry as well as a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area which might include public policy, law or health & safety and minimum of 5 years’ experience of health and safety policy experience in UK offshore oil & gas.  The successful candidate will have experience of developing high quality policies and an ability to effectively analyse complex information and use it to make robust policy recommendations. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to advise and collaborate with individuals at all levels across government and excellent verbal and written communication to impart key messages clearly.

Candidates without UK H&S experience will not be considered.
