The Role

Support the provision of a nurse-led community psychiatric service for the whole community, treating a wide-ranging caseload of all ages including children and adolescents, adults under 65 and those over 65. You will treat patients experiencing acute distress, as well as supporting those with severe and enduring mental health conditions, both on an inpatient and outpatient basis.

The individual will also contribute to the promotion of emotional and mental wellbeing within the Falkland Islands community, using relevant up-to-date evidence-based policies, procedures and guidelines, within the constraints of the limited resources of the Falkland Islands Health Service.

The Person

We are looking for an approachable, professional and resilient registered mental health nurse, with a minimum of three years post-registration experience and a mature and empathetic approach to health-care delivery.

You will need to be self-sufficient and comfortable taking the lead on a patient's individual care plan, working without direct supervision from a consultant psychiatrist.

Core Requirements

  • Minimum 3 Years Post-Registration experience as a qualified mental health nurse.
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) Status from the UK or equivalent.
  • Able to work well within a small team and in a joined-up fashion with other agencies and professionals.
  • Responsive to the needs of the service, including ability to work unsocial hours as planned and occasional on-call duties.
  • Comfortable using a computer and maintaining appropriate electronic patient records. Experience with EMIS is desirable.

The Package

  • Initial 2-4 Years Fixed Term Contract, with potential for extension by mutual agreement.
  • Salary Range: £31-38k, starting salaries will be dependent upon experience.
  • 25% Gratuity paid upon successful completion of the contract.
  • 30 Days Annual Leave, plus government and public holidays (totalling 41 days leave)
  • Relocation Allowance, to help with moving costs.
  • Flights package for you and your dependents, including mid-term return flight home.
  • Government Housing for rent at a subsidised rate and a starter pack to help you get settled in.
